Please read the information below before beginning the application process. These policies are effective for the 2021-2022 School year.
Important Early Childhood Application Information

Application Submission Requirements:

  • Provide all requested information in the application, including child, family, and household information and choose your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd site/program choices.
  • Scan and upload ALL the required documents, including parent/guardian identification, your child’s birth certificate, proof of residency, proof of income, proof of SSI or TANF benefits, and other documents if applicable.
  • I understand that all sites that I choose in the site selection process will have access to my application and my personally identifiable information and documentation, including my residency and income information.

Eligible Residents: Eligibility for the different programs and sites varies by site or program. Once residency, household income, and other information is included in the application, applicants are shown which programs and sites they MIGHT qualify to attend. Children who live outside of Jefferson Parish are not eligible for Jeff CAP Early Head Start, Head Start, PDG Birth - 3, and JPS (school system) programs.

Transportation: Eligibility for transportation varies across sites and is sometimes based on the child’s address and proximity to the site. Information on transportation eligibility is provided in the description of each site.

Children with Identified Disabilities:
Families of children with identified disabilities are encouraged to contact their IFSP or IEP coordinators for support in the registration process. Site and classroom placement has already been determined for some children in the IFSP or IEP process and families should register their children for those sites/classrooms. When site and classroom placement has not yet been determined, families should contact programs before completing an application to determine if the program has the site-based resources necessary to meet the child’s individual needs.

Additional Information:
All seats awarded through the Jefferson Early Childhood Collaborative lottery are pending (not finalized) until final funding awards are received from the Federal Government and/or the Louisiana Legislature and the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE).
