Summer Institute 2022

THURSDAY, JUNE 9, 2022

On Thursday, June 9, 2022, the Jefferson Collaborative will be offering 4 unique sessions. Each session is 3-hours long and will be repeated twice, once in the AM and once in the PM.  You can register for 2 out of the 4 sessions, by choosing an AM & PM Session. Lunch will be served for participants registering for an AM & PM session!

Registering does not confirm a seat for any of Thursday’s trainings. First priority is given to full-day participants (those registering for an AM & PM session).  Participants only registering for one session will be on a first come, first served basis for any remaining spots.  

Registration closes Friday, May 27, 2022 at 5:00 pm. You will be notified Tuesday, May 31, 2022 to let you know if you have a confirmed seat for the Thursday, June 9th sessions.

Don’t Stress: Stress and How to Manage
(3-hour session, Infant, Toddler and PK teachers)

Stress is part of our everyday lives. As early childhood professionals we encounter stress often but the key to it all is knowing how to manage it. This session will discuss the reality of stress and healthy ways to manage it.

Engaging Environments support Higher Quality Observation Skills
(3-hour session, Infant, Toddler and PK teachers)

Create an environment that makes observing children easier, more productive, and efficient. The environment impacts children’s ability to engage with peers, explore, create, solve problems and become independent critical thinkers.

"Oh What to do about Lesson Planning!"
(3-hour session, Infant, Toddler and PK teachers)

Understanding and implementing an intentional lesson plan for young learners can be overwhelming and stressful at times. Let’s take a closer look at the When, What, Why and How of planning and implementing a lesson plan in your daily schedule to make it easier and more intentional for better learning outcomes in your day.

Please bring a sample of: your posted daily class schedule, your program’s blank lesson plan format, and your program’s current curriculum teacher guide, and let’s explore together to create a lesson plan that fits your day and your students' learning needs and goals!

Stopping Challenging Behavior Before It Starts
(3-hour session, Toddler and PK teachers)

As a teacher, one of the most common things that you'll come across in your career is dealing with challenging behaviors. In this session, we will dive into how to identify what is triggering a behavior to occur and how to choose a proactive strategy to manage unwanted behavior in your classroom.

FRIDAY, JUNE 10, 2022
8:30AM - 3:30PM

Frog Street PK 2020 Implementation - Invitation Only
(6-hour training, PK Teachers)

This interactive and engaging implementation course that will ensure your new, comprehensive Frog Street Pre-K 2020 Curriculum is being used with fidelity. This is a review of the components to gain an understanding of how they are used for instructional purposes. Daily, intentional lesson sequences for social-emotional development (using Conscious Discipline® strategies), math, and early literacy will be discussed and modeled. In addition, teachers will review content area skills integrated into daily lessons (science, social studies, fine arts, engineering, physical development, and technology).

The registration link will be sent to participants who are invited to attend this session.

SATURDAY, JUNE 11, 2022
8:30AM - 3:30PM

Frog Street PK 2020 Make & Take
6-hour session

Come and join the Jefferson Collaborative team for an opportunity to create Conscious Discipline Structures for your classroom, as well as items needed for Theme 1 of Frog Street PK 2020.  Be prepared for the year and ready for a successful 1st month of the 2022-2023 school year.  Materials will be supplied.   (Precedence will be given to those teachers who attended the FS PK 2020 Implementation Training)

Conscious Discipline Make & Take
6-hour session

Come and join the Jefferson Collaborative team for an opportunity to create Conscious Discipline Structures for your classroom.  Be prepared for a successful 2022-2023 year.  Materials will be supplied.   (Precedence will be given to those teachers who attended the Conscious Discipline Training)
